WELCOME ABOARD

Realizing the need for change turned into a vision and then a plan. Climate-neutral travelling by ship starts in 2029. The power of the wind, the sun and the sea make this possible. Travelling between the continentswith high-tech ships with oceanwings, methanol fuel cells and electric propulsion in the tradition of steam-powered liners is also a journey to oneself.

Twelve days at sea, if desired without media distraction, together with other interesting people who contribute their skills and talents as lecturers, musicians, panelists or by sharing poetry slam. Once having arrived in New York, the passengers feel refreshed, and the feeling remains that the time on board has been too short.

AWARENESS

"For a long time I was not aware of the climate change caused by humans. Until 2015, I sometimes flew more professionally and privately than flight attendants do in a year. I only became aware of it after the Paris climate agreement. After the shock, there was a huge desire to do something meaningful and to help stop climate change."
Robert Yen (founder of Save Planet Liners)

VISION

Today‘s cruises market is characterised by an increase in capacity, experiences, material luxury and emissions. Save Planet Liners is writing a new chapter: the over-stimulating excess of everything is being replaced by a sensible quality tourism that is good for people and our planet. Great experiences take time, leisure and an environment that stimulates the senses.

Our guests are passengers on one of our climate-neutral ships which set global standards in terms of sustainability, smartness, and aesthetics. Our ports of call connect destinations that belong to the most inspiring cities and regions in the world.

The Save Planet Liners crew and shore-based staff live the spirit of passionate hospitality. Each of us feels responsible for the continuing existence of our habitat. Every guest leaves our ship enriched in spirit and with unique memories.

PLAN

The starting point for Save Planet Liners was a representative study commissioned from the Sinus Institute in Heidelberg in 2021, which identified a core potential of around 10% in Germany for scheduled passenger transport by ship from Amsterdam to New York and from Marseille to Tel Aviv.

The work began with the search for suitable partners to define the basic outline of the project and carry out the essential preliminary work. GreenLiners GmbH & Co. KG was founded, the basic design for the ship was developed, the "Save Planet Liners" brand was registered and an initial rough concept for the product was written.

The next phase involves finding strategic investors and working with them to build up Save Planet Liners and launch the shipping company with its first ship and passengers.

JOURNEY BETWEEN THE CONTINENTS

Save Planet Liners does not offer its passengers a cruise whose special appeal lies in visiting wonderful places on our planet. Save Planet Liners is first and foremost a means of transportation that transports its passengers to a specific place, admittedly a particularly attractive place, on the other side of the ocean, and does so in a climate-neutral way. Our ships follow a specific timetable, which is binding for us. This puts us in the tradition of the steam-powered ocean liners.

The current status: Our first ship will sail regularly from Hamburg (GER) via Southampton to New York (USA) during the warm season. In the cold season it is very uncomfortable in the north of the Atlantic and so there will be a regular service between Marseille with a stop in the Azores to Miami (USA).

You can read about how long the crossing will take, what you will experience on board and why every day that the journey takes longer is a day gained under "Twelve days at sea".

TWELVE DAYS AT SEA

When we present our concept, many of the people we talk to are enthusiastic. Admittedly, most of them are people for whom sustainable living and climate protection are very important. But there are also critical voices. "What, so long! Who has that much time just to come to New York?"

In our society, time is something that has to be filled, either with work or with as much dispersion as possible? Others think of the six weeks of vacation that should not be wasted on the crossing from Europe to the USA. You want to experience as much as possible.

Save Planet Liners thinks differently, because we don't see time as something to be overcome, but as something to be enjoyed. If you want to know more, click on ...

HIGH-TECH SHIPS

How is it possible to sail a ship 146 m long and 20 m wide with a displacement of 7,966 tons, carrying around 220 passengers and 120 crew members across an ocean in a climate-neutral way? So far, most cruise ship owners consider that it will take another decade before this will be possible for their ships.

Save Planet Liners has set out to achieve this before 2030. Many technologies already exist today. Others need to be adapted and optimized and the rest will be achieved through a great deal of creativity and systemic thinking.
